Jal Mahal Jaipur ancient palace on a lake

Jal Mahal was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 in the midst of the water reservoir Man Sagar lake as a pleasure spot, near Jaipur city. The tranquil palace surrounded by the lake is an architectural display of Rajput and Mughal amalgam with much grandeur and an ultimate visual experience. The palace, constructed in red sandstone, is a five storied building exposing only the uppermost floor, while lower levels are under water. On the terrace of the palace, a garden was created with arched passages. The state government has declared the Jal Mahal and the Man Sagar lake as a protected area and placed it under the Rajasthan Lake Development Authority to restrict activities in and around the water body. Visitors are not allowed to enter inside the palace,  but a pathway around the Man Sagar Lake allows tourists to view the Jal Mahal. High Resolution long shot of Jal Mahal captures the serenity of this historic place. Explore and download exclusive Royalty Free stock photos of iconic Rajasthan monuments for your visual projects.
