Varanasi Dashashwamedh Ganges river ghat at night

The main ghat of Varanasi on the river Ganges is the Dashashwamedh Ghat which is close to the Vishwanath Temple is probably the most spectacular ghat. According to the Hindu mythologies, this ghat is associated with two legends, one Brahma created it to welcome Shiva, and in another Brahma sacrificed ten horses during Dasa-Ashwamedha Yajna performed here. At present the ghat was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the year 1748. After few decades later, Ahilyabahi Holkar, the Queen of Indore rebuilt the ghat in the year 1774. at night the ghat looks marvelous because of its lighting.
